DIY Cleaning Recipes for the Kitchen

DISHWASHER TABS:

1 cup baking soda
1⁄4 cup citric acid
1 tablespoon dōTERRA On Guard® Cleaner Concentrate or Castile Soap 5 drops Grapefruit oil

DIRECTIONS:

Put baking soda, dōTERRA On Guard® Cleaner Concentrate (or Castile soap), and Grapefruit oil in a mixing bowl.
Mix together until the mixture is an even consistency.
Slowly add in Citric acid and mix in slowly.


You are looking for the texture of wet sand
Once mixed well, place in silicon molds and let sit for four hours.
Remove tabs + Store in an airtight container.
Use in dishwasher in place of store-bought dishwasher tablets.
Tip: Adding one cup white vinegar to the rinsing agent compartment in your dishwasher will help ensure that your glassware comes out of the dishwasher sparkling!

DISH SOAP

2 cups unscented castile soap
20 drops Orange or On Guard® Protective Blend essential oil 10 drops Lemon essential oil

DIRECTIONS:

Fill a large, clean glass bottle with castle soap.
Add essential oils. Shake bottle before each use.
Just add 1-2 tablespoons to dish water for use.
If you would like to have extra bubbles add 1/4 cup liquid glycerin.

FRUIT & VEGETABLE SOAK :

Use to clean all fruit and veggies including greens. Cold Water (fill sink half way)

1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cup white vinegar
5 drops lemon essential oil

DIRECTIONS:

Start filling the sink with cold water.
Add baking soda and mix with your hand
Add the vinegar into the flow of the water to minimize the reaction with the baking soda.

Once all vinegar is added, add essential oils.
When sink is half full mix with your hand and then add your fruit and veggies.
To clean greens like lettuce and spinach either clean separately or place in a strainer before adding to the sink (makes rinsing easy).
Soak for 10 minutes.
Drain and rinse your veggies.
Allow all to air dry.
For greens use a salad spinner after you rinse.

DEODORIZING DISK

Use disks for trash compactor, diaper pails, behind the toilet, in a closet, fridge, shoe closets, or under the sink.

2 cups of baking soda
1/2 cup distilled water or boiled water 10 drops of essential oils

DIRECTIONS

Combine water and baking soda into a bowl. Stir until you get a thick, wet paste.
Add your essential oils and mix well.
Then add your paste into a lined muffin pan, or silicone moulds and let harden for 28-48 hours. This makes about 6 small disks.

REUSABLE KITCHEN WIPES

Old t-shirts cut it up into “rag-size” cloths.
1 cup warm distilled water
1/8 cup (or 1 ounce) liquid castile soap or On Guard® Protective Blend Cleaning Concentrate
5 – 10 drops of Purify® Cleansing Blend, Lemon or On Guard® Protective Blend essential oil
Large Glass Jar

DIRECTIONS:

Mix all of your liquids well in the jar you plan to use.
Place the rags into the jar with the liquid.
Put the top on the jar (or whatever lidded container you prefer) and turn upside down a few times until all the rags are soaked.
After being used, the cloths can be washed and returned to the jar to reuse over and over again.

DECLOG THE DRAIN

1 cup of baking soda
1 cup of salt
1/4 cup of cream of tartar

DIRECTIONS:

Mix all ingredients together well
Measure about a quarter cup of the mixed powder and pour into your clogged drain.
Pour two cups of boiling water into the drain, and let stand for about an hour, then run fresh water from the tap.

MOP BUCKET

Hot water (fill to the level you normally do)
1/2 tsp On Guard® Protective Blend Concentrate Cleaner 5 drops lemon essential oil

DIRECTIONS:

Add all ingredients to mop bucket. Mix gently
Mop as normal
